Register a Bank Account and Charge Your Balance
Bank charging debits an account in your own name and adds charged balance to your e-money. Register the account once, then select it for later charges.
You can use this method when Charge from Bank Account appears in the service. If it is not shown, bank charging is currently unavailable for that service.
Register your first account
Section titled “Register your first account”From Home, open Charge → Charge from Bank Account. If no bank account is registered, tap the registration prompt to continue.
You can also register from Account → Charge Settings → Bank Accounts → Add. When you start from settings, you return to bank account management after registration.
Enter the account holder’s name in katakana as registered with your bank. Open and read the BankPay Terms of Use, then agree and continue to account registration. You can register an account before setting a charge PIN.
When using the app added to your Home Screen, bank registration opens in a separate window. Return to the original app when you finish. In a browser, you are taken to the bank’s page and return to this service after the procedure.
Follow the financial institution’s registration instructions. Once complete, check that your registered account appears. Registering an account alone does not debit it or issue balance.
After registration, you will be prompted to set a charge PIN if you have not already done so. This is a new six-digit number for authorizing bank charges in this app, separate from your bank’s PIN. If you already set a PIN for card charging, use the same PIN. Cancelling PIN setup keeps the registered bank account.
If Bank Account Registration Is Incomplete appears, use Continue Registration to resume. If you have already completed the bank’s procedure, choose Check Registration Again. If the app asks you to register again, follow that guidance.
Characters, symbols and spaces in the account holder name
Section titled “Characters, symbols and spaces in the account holder name”In Account Holder Name (Full-width Kana), enter the katakana spelling registered with your bank. If it includes letters, numbers, symbols or spaces, match the bank’s registered spelling.
The app converts half-width letters, numbers, katakana, symbols and spaces to full-width. Move away from the input field to see the converted text. Common examples are shown below.
| Character type | Input example | After conversion |
|---|---|---|
| Katakana with voiced or semi-voiced marks | ヤマダ, パ | ヤマダ, パ |
| Small katakana | ャ, ッ | ャ, ッ |
| Letters and numbers | Ab12 | Ab12 |
| Parentheses | (, ) | (, ) |
| Hyphen | - | - |
| Long vowel mark and middle dot | ー, ・ | ー, ・ |
| Period and slash | ., / | ., / |
| Space | A half-width space between names | A full-width space |
For example, ヤマダ タロウ becomes ヤマダ タロウ. Spaces and symbols within the name are preserved; leading and trailing spaces are removed when submitting the registration. Letter case and small katakana are preserved. A hyphen - is different from a long vowel mark ー, and a period . is different from a middle dot ・.
Use no more than 30 characters after conversion, including spaces and symbols. For example, ガ becomes ガ and counts as one character. Hiragana, kanji and emoji are not accepted or automatically converted to katakana.
The table shows how the app converts input. It does not mean that every bank accepts every character in the table. If the bank reports that the name does not match, check the spelling registered with your bank.
To correct the name, return to the app, close the registration screen, and register again with the corrected name. Continue Registration resumes the registration with the name you entered first.
Check the account and amount before charging
Section titled “Check the account and amount before charging”Select the account and amount, check the debit amount on the confirmation screen, and tap Charge. If you have not set a charge PIN, the setup prompt appears again. Once set, authorize the charge with your PIN and check the completion screen. Available amounts and limits vary by service.
If you charged recently, you will see the previous amount and how long ago it completed before confirming another charge. Cancelling returns to amount entry without debiting your account.
If the result cannot be confirmed, use Check Result instead of starting the same charge again. Processing continues after you close the screen; you can reopen it to check the result.
Charge Cancelled means the charge has been cancelled and the refund to your bank account is complete. A refund shown as processing or needing attention may still be unfinished.
If the status does not resolve or you do not recognize a debit, note the amount, date/time and transaction ID if shown and contact the service provider.
Remove an account you no longer use
Section titled “Remove an account you no longer use”Open Account → Charge Settings → Bank Accounts and choose Remove Account. This removes the registration from this app; it does not close your bank account. Your charged balance and past transactions remain.
Even if the service disables bank charging, you can remove existing registrations from this screen. To use a removed account again, register it again.
You cannot turn off the charge PIN while bank accounts are registered, even by entering your current PIN. If you have forgotten it, the notice offers a link to the reset flow.
Reset a forgotten charge PIN
Section titled “Reset a forgotten charge PIN”You can reset your PIN from Account → Charge Settings → PIN Code for Charge. Resetting it removes all cards and bank accounts registered for charging and cancels pending bank account registrations.
After the reset, register your account or card again and set a new PIN. Your charged balance and transaction history remain.
When the screen is in demo mode
Section titled “When the screen is in demo mode”Demo Mode registers test accounts and does not debit a real bank account. Follow the on-screen instructions to try the flow.
