Changing to a new device
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Your balance and transaction history are stored in your e-money account, not on your smartphone. When you move to a new device, logging in there the same way you did before gives you everything back.
The app icon itself does not move to the new device automatically, so you need to add the app again there.
If the phone number or email address you log in with changes as part of the switch, prepare before you change devices. Without that preparation, you may not be able to log in on your own afterward.
Before You Change Devices
Section titled “Before You Change Devices”While your current device still works, check how you log in.
If you log in with a phone number
Section titled “If you log in with a phone number”If your phone number changes, change it in the app while your current device still works.
Once the number has changed, the verification code can no longer be sent to you, so you will not be able to log in on your own.
If you log in with an email address
Section titled “If you log in with an email address”Check that you can still receive email at that address on the new device.
If you use a mobile carrier email address, it may stop working when you switch carriers. If you are unsure, change it in advance from Change your email address.
If you log in with LINE, Google, or another service
Section titled “If you log in with LINE, Google, or another service”As long as you can sign in to the same account on the new device, nothing else is needed.
After You Change Devices
Section titled “After You Change Devices”- Open the e-money website in the browser on your new device. Scan the QR code displayed at the shop, or use the URL you used before.
- Add it to your home screen by following Install the app.
- Log in with the method you registered.
Once you log in, your balance and transaction history appear as before.
💡 Do I have to log in again?
Restoring from a backup sometimes keeps you logged in. The result depends on the device, the OS, and how you restore, so plan on having to log in again.
If You Cannot Log In
Section titled “If You Cannot Log In”Follow What to Do If You Can No Longer Log In to update your login method.
If that does not help, contact the shop that issues your e-money. See Contact Customer Support for how to find their contact details.
